A brush fire can break out at any time in the greater Los Angeles area.
The hills in LA are particularly dry this year, and the wildfire fall season is clearly already upon us. Today, a brush fire is burning in the Sepulveda Pass, and LA fire crews (assisted by the hotshot LA County helicopter crews) are working to protect key areas of Bel Air and the surrounding areas.
If you live in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI), it’s very important that you know how to take care of your family. MySafe:LA encourages you to be ready in the event of a wildfire.
There are specific things you should do in advance of a fire. These include:

Be certain to include your pets in your plan.
Be certain to have an out of town relative you can call, if required. Out of town contacts are a good policy, in case local cell towers become overloaded.
Have a battery powered radio handy.
Make certain you have local news and fire websites in your smartphone or iPad device.
