Each year, traditionally on the day before Mother’s Day, the Los Angeles City Fire Department invites the public to visit any of the Department’s 106 fire stations in celebration of the fire agencies commitment to all risk safety in the City of Angels. This year, the Fire Service Open House took place on May 13, 2023.
MySafe:LA supported the event with displays, prize awards, and training for the public in multiple areas in the city. MySafe:LA members taught people hands-only CPR, gave away smoke alarms, family survival kits, and fire service-related toys for the kids in attendance.
“Our partnership with the LAFD goes back to 2008, and every year, we are so happy to bring our members to various locations around Los Angeles to celebrate this important open house with the public and our public safety partner,” said MySafe:LA Commander David Barrett.
During the day, MySafe:LA taught more than 300 people hands-only CPR at the various events throughout the city. This year, the LAFD decided to make “honorary fire chief” awards to various CERT call-pout team members, including our own Carl Ginsberg. Congrats, Carl!!!
