Part 1 is completed online, from anywhere – we sign you up, send you an access link, and you take the online course at your own speed.
Part 2 is the practical classroom training. This is typically a four hour course, and when completed, you’ll be certified (all in one day!).
• Sudden cardiac arrest in infants and children (more common that we would like)
• Cardiopulmonary arrest due to other health issues
• Drowning (this impacts people of all ages)
• Drug overdose
• Prolonged cardiac arrest
When taking a certified course from MySafe:LA, students learn how to perform chest compressions as well as rescue breaths, at a ratio of 30:2. Rescue breaths fill the lungs with air, providing oxygen to the patient’s bloodstream. The oxygenated blood is then pumped manually around the body with the 30 chest compressions that follow.
The effectiveness of hands-only CPR vs. traditional CPR varies based on the age of the patient and the situation. Certified CPR (with breaths and compressions) is recommended in the following circumstances:
Rescue breathing is especially important when treating children and infants. However, if you haven’t taken a certification course, you should still follow the basic hands-only technique until first responders arrive.
In addition to offering CPR certification, MySafe:LA also provides recertification for current certificate holders. MySafe:LA makes Red Cross CPR certification fast, simple and easy. And with Red Cross Digital Certificates you'll get anytime, anywhere access to your certificates; plus the ability to print, share, and download them wherever and whenever you like. Digital certificates can be viewed, printed or shared online and can be accessed anytime through your Red Cross Account. Each certificate includes a unique ID and a QR code which meets employment requirements and allows employers to easily confirm your certificate is valid.
If you have a group that needs to be certified in CPR, we’ll organize a date and come to your facility to make it happen. We provide all of the equipment, certification process, and expert instructors. Reach out and we’ll set up a time that works for you and your people. It doesn’t matter if your requirements include OSHA guidelines for First Aid; being a Healthcare provider that requires Basic Life Support; or an ad hoc group eager for CPR certification – This is a terrific option that is affordable and fun. Remember, we want this essential life safety education to be engaging - and that means a smile on everyone’s face as they go through the learning process.
