On behalf of everyone at MySafe:LA, we’d like to thank all of the schools, teachers, and students who participated in our September National Preparedness Month presentations. Knowing what to do in the event of not only a disaster, but more common life safety issues is a critical element in today’s complex society.

As we move into a new month, remember:

• Have a plan
• Make a kit
• Create an out-of-town phone and SMS contact
• Practice your plan – at least twice a year
• Replace the batteries in your smoke and co alarms twice a year
• Replace your smoke alarms every five years
