(March 15, 2016 – Los Angeles) — MySafe:LA has won a highly regarded Award of Merit from The Accolade Global Film Competition. The award was given for the organization’s Older Adult Fire Safety film produced to help people over 55 live safer, healthier and more independent lives. The film stars three older Los Angeleños who through example show how they stay safe in their homes. The film covers safe kitchen practices, smoke alarm installation and maintenance, family escape planning, knowing how and when to shelter in place, and stocking a complete emergency supplies kit.

Making the film, Older Adult Fire Safety, was so much fun,” said the film’s director and editor, Cameron Barrett. “We had the great pleasure of working with three older adults who lit up every scene they were in.”

When we made the film, we hoped it compelled people to take action and live safer lives,” said David Barrett, the film’s Executive Producer. “We’re gratified the Accolade Competition felt the same way. Hopefully this film will help save lives.”
