MySafe:LA Celebrates the FireHouse:50

Because MySafe:LA survives exclusively on grants and gifts, developing programs and operations are greatly impacted by each year’s funding results. Through the creativity of several of our members, a new and valued source of support has been created: the FireHouse:50. After a successful launch, MySafe:LA held a party to celebrate the founding members and to let our partners know how much we value everything they do for us.

The FireHouse:50 represents the best people in Los Angeles,” said MySafe:LA Executive Officer David Barrett. “These individuals are truly outstanding members of our community. They stepped up and supported MySafe:LA’s community risk reduction efforts from the very beginning, and their support have been unflagging.”

Los Angeles is a safer place thanks to Bruce Meyer and the other members of the FireHouse:50,” said MySafe:LA education specialist William Whitney.

Bruce Meyer, the noted car collector and Peterson Automotive Museum co-creator, is the FireHouse:50’s founding member. He hosted the evening’s festivities at the famed Beverly Hills Garage, a meticulously renovated space that houses signature items in his extraordinary automotive collection.

Other FireHouse:50 founding members Bill Ahmanson, retired LAFD Fire Chief William Bamattre, Nelson Rising, Mike Fourtique, J.C. Massar, Peter Mullin, Dr. George Rajacich, and William Whitney each received a custom-designed leather fire helmet inscribed with their names.

Also honored was current LAFD Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas. “MySafe:LA’s work in the public sector and fire and life safety education programs in the schools proves they are a valuable partner of the LAFD,” said Terrazas.

The evening’s guests included directors of the Children’s Burn Foundation and the California Science Center as well as Los Angeles Unified School District officers, and Chief Officers of the Los Angeles and Beverly Hills Fire Departments. All were given an exclusive tour of the one-of-a-kind automobiles by Bruce Meyer, who entertained the group with each vehicle’s backstory.
