Fleet Week is back in San Pedro! After a multi-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fun and exciting Fleet Week event is back – now over the Memorial Day weekend. As has been the case at every previous event, MySafe:LA has been an active participant and our team was thrilled with this year’s activities.
MySafe:LA provided Fleet Week attendees with home safety education materials, provided dozens of prizes including fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, disaster recovery books and much more – not to mention teaching people CPR, and sharing disaster readiness tips and tricks.
MySafe:LA partners with the Los Angeles City Fire Department for public events, and Fleet Week was no different. Our members were alongside LAFD firefighters and we encouraged event attendees to check out the fire apparatus on display. Many even got a chance to sit in the cab of an aerial ladder truck.
An important follow up from Fleet Week is community resilience – our public safety officers will be installing free smoke alarms and CO detectors in dozens of homes for people that signed up during the event. Our members will also be offering full certification in CPR to all of the people who signed up for classes. To learn more, visit: www.mysafela.org
