For the past four years, MySafe:LA has collaborated with The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Gardens supporting their needs related to community and campus safety. The effort has included developing a new Emergency Response plan, campus safety guides for department heads and employees, new safety onboarding practices, a new Emergency Operations Center, and perhaps most practically – full certification in CPR and use of an AED.
The 4.5 hour course has been delivered to more than 85 of the organizations employees, with each member being certified for two years following completion of the course. MySafe:LA instructors are typically also EMTs or paramedics, and all have been certified as CPR instructors by the American Red Cross.
“This training is extremely important for anyone working in a place with access from the public,” said MySafe:LA Executive Director David Barrett. “The CPR training experience is just one of the ways we’re working closely with The Huntington to create a safety-oriented culture on campus.”
